SANRAD provides enterprise-class data protection across any storage systems
or servers without the expensive licenses and infrastructure required with other alternatives.
The Problem
While many businesses today back up their corporate data, performing
backups and other data copying tasks can be very disruptive.
When making duplicates of data for testing, doing backup jobs,
or migrating data to a new storage system to protect critical information,
IT managers face significant resource, performance, and economic challenges:
- Backing up databases often requires the data to be out of production
during backup to avoid data corruption.
- Using the application servers to make copies of data to another server
for data mining or testing is very time-consuming.
This process causes server and network delays.
- Individually backing up every server is expensive, tedious, and
often unreliable. Backup and data migration software and hardware
can add thousands of dollars to the cost of new servers.
- Retrieving data within a server that has suffered catastrophic
software or hardware damage is difficult or even impossible to recover and reassign.
The Solution
SANRAD’s solution performs data protection, data copy, data migration and
data reassignment from the storage network layer, completely eliminating
these burdens from application servers and local area networks. Data is
protected and managed in real time while applications remain in continuous
production to service the needs of your customers.
- SANRAD’s unique snapshot technology makes an instantaneous volume copy of
any online volume without disrupting production. The snapshot is owned by the
V-Switch, requires almost no capacity, can be mounted, read and written by any
other server for backup, testing, and data mining.
- Microsoft VSS can be used to coordinate V-Switch snapshots with Microsoft®
Exchange, SQL and other applications. With VSS and SANRAD, the entire backup process
is server-free, LAN-free and completely automated using the Microsoft VSS scheduler.
- Live data can be migrated or copied between different volumes
within the same storage system or between different storage systems.
Once new and old volumes are synchronized, they will remain synchronized
until required for the new volume or storage system.
- Up to four mirror copies of the same mission-critical data can
be maintained in real time across four different storage systems.
If one or more storage systems fails, the SANRAD solution continues
to protect the data and service client needs with the remaining mirrors.
- Any production volume can be removed from a server and reassigned to another server.
Data is protected, and production can continue if the original server is physically damaged.
